Princess Catherine’s Wedding Gown

Before the royal wedding in London, many, fashion critics or not, have waited to peek the wedding gown of the Prince’s bride Kate Middleton that is now Princess Catherine Duchess of Cambridge.  I’ve waited to see it just as I’ve waited to see Reese Witherspoon’s as TV news kept urging me to check it out. Kate succeeded in keeping the gown and the designer a secret, even to her Prince.

Yesterday, I’d finally laid my eyes on Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen’s wedding gown on Yahoo. It is simple yes but with a royal elegance. The dress is a picture of tradition and modernity combined. Some might have said they didn’t see something special on the gown but if you look closely there is something special on it, the simplicity.

If you’ve noticed, the shape of the top covering the chest down the corsetry waist, the ivory satin bodice, is heart-shaped. The sweeping train held by the bride’s sister measures only over six feet long. The gown has long sleeve lace and has a deep V cut on the neckline. I like her idea of bringing back the long sleeves on wedding gowns. It’s been a long while since we’ve seen one and now, I have a feeling the Princess is bringing back that trend.

The Cartier halo tiara she was wearing was lent to her by the Queen, which also used by Princess Diana on her wedding with Prince Charles on 1981. It held the elbow length ivory silk tulle veil in place that has hand-embroidered flowers. Overall, she is breath-taking.
